Yossi Kakon is the new Mayor of Tzfat

Yossi Kakon is from the Shas party and moved to Tzfat only a few months ago to run for Mayor. He was the chosen candidate from all the different Charedi groups in the city. He received 52 percent of the votes while former Mayor, Shuki Ohana, only received 43 percent. This is very big news in Tzfat because Tzfas is a mixed city with many religious and non religious people. There is a fear that the city will turn into Bnei Brak but according to Kakon he will do everything he can and work with both sides to keep the city how it’s always been.

Actually, Yossi Kakon lived in Tzfat for 6 years, from 2005-2011. He received an award from the municipality in 2006 for fixing the bomb shelters that had fallen into a state of disrepair prior to the 2006 Second Lebanon War.
